Insulating multi-wythe masonry heritage building walls – Design and Construction Considerations
The presentation focuses on the analysis and design steps required to establish whether or not a heritage building can accommodate the application of insulation without significantly increasing the risk of freeze-thaw damage. Case studies will also be presented on the construction considerations for insulation applications, including the results of temperature and moisture sensors showing how the model prediction compared to the actual on-site results from the application of spray-foam insulation after more than six years of occupancy.

DAMIAN LANG
CEO

WATERTOWN ENTERPRISES

Damian Lang was born and raised in Southeast, Ohio. After high school, he set his sights on achieving his dream of starting a business.  Less than a year later, in 1984, he launched Lang Masonry.  From the beginning, he recognized the value of supporting his community and made it his priority to hire local workers.
The company grew and shifted its focus from residential to commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.  While the name of the business changed to Lang Masonry and Restoration Contractors, Inc., the close-knit, small -town spirit remained a constant part of the company culture.  In fact, many of the employees who were part of the original crew are still with the company today. Through high productivity standards and the dedication of the employees, the company has grown to become one of the top masonry contracting businesses in the United States.
In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s Damian set out to transform the masonry industry with innovative labor-saving equipment and founded EZ Grout Corporation (known today as EZG Manufacturing) in 1998. Today, the equipment he designed is considered the industry standard and is used on job sites throughout the world.
In 2004 Lang wrote his first book “Rewarding and Challenging Employees: For Profit in Masonry”.
